Housing
UNISON organises and represents 150,000 workers in the housing sector in local authorities, ALMOs, housing co-operatives and housing associations across the UK. Our members provide all kinds of housing services, repair work and administrative support.
UNISON represents members from the workplace up to government and industry bodies, such as the Local Government Associations – LGA, COSLA, NILGA and WLGA, the National Federations of Housing Associations – NHF, SFHA, WFHA and NIFHA, the Housing Corporation, the Homes and Communities Agency and Tenant Services Authority.
Whether it's pay negotiations or government policy, UNISON is the independent voice of the housing worker.
UNISON's National Housing Forum will again host a one day event for members working in the housing sector. Branches will be sent full details of the event at a later date.
UNISON circular LG/3/2009 asks branches to seek to secure support from local authorities, ALMO boards, tenant federations and tenant associations for the 10 principles adopted by UNISON in relation to the Government's review of the Housing Revenue Account (HRA).
UNISON has made a submission to the CLG Select Committee enquiry into government measures to address the impact of the credit crunch on housing in the UK.
(30/10/08) UNISON warmly welcomes the announcement of the Review of the Housing Revenue Account and the Government’s commitment “to ensure that we have a sustainable, long term system for financing council housing”.
This year's Local Government conference resolved to seek to actively influence the considerations of the Review of the Housing Revenue Account.
