Canal and River Trust members accept pay offer

UNISON members working for the Canal & River Trust have voted to accept a 2% offer.

A full consultation saw 75% vote to accept the 2014/15 pay offer.

A similar consulation by Unite also saw its members accept the offer.

The votes mean that from 1 July, workers at the trust will receive:

  • a consolidated increase of 2% on all pay;
  • a 2% increase to the inner and outer London allowances;
  • a 4.2% increase to the standby payment, taking the allowance to £125;
  • 2 January as an additional day’s leave for 2015 only, or a suitable alternative for those on annualised hours.

The trust has also said it is prepared to talk to the unions about the pssibility of signing up to the living wage campaign.

But the trust has refused to break the link between personal development reviews and pay, and has also refused an additional increase in annual leave of one day.

The Canal & River Trust is a charity entrusted with the care of 2,000 miles of the inland waterway network in England and Wales.
