Fixing the NHS staffing crisis should be the government’s priority, says UNISON

Another top-down reorganisation is not the start to the new year that NHS staff in England were expecting.

Commenting on media reports today (Tuesday) that the government is planning another NHS shake-up in the form of ‘academy-style’ hospitals, UNISON head of health Sara Gorton said:

“Another top-down reorganisation is not the start to the new year that NHS staff in England were expecting.

“Health workers may take some convincing that this isn’t just a well-timed smokescreen to distract from the Prime Minister’s current political difficulties.

“Ministers need to show health employees that they can fix the worsening staffing crisis in the NHS, not demoralise a battered and exhausted workforce with yet more uncertainty.”
