Claims to be the party of the NHS enough to make the blood boil

Brexit must be sorted but not by crashing out of Europe

Commenting on Boris Johnson’s speech today (Wednesday) to the Conservative Party conference in Manchester, UNISON general secretary Dave Prentis said:

“The claim that the Conservatives are now the party of the NHS is enough to make staff and patients’ blood boil after a decade of damaging Tory austerity.

“But Boris Johnson is right about one thing. The whole country wants Brexit out of the way, but not by crashing out at the end of the month.

“There must be a solution that protects public services, jobs, living standards and peace in Northern Ireland.

“As soon as the Prime Minister agrees to abide by the law, there can be an election.

“Then this divisive catastrophe can be sorted once and for all, and a new government can start to fix our NHS, schools, police and local services.”
