UNISON responds to LGPS 2014 plan

Today’s joint statement issued by the the Local Government Association, updating progress of Local Government Pension Scheme work streams, has been welcomed by UNISON.

UNISON head of local government Heather Wakefield said:

“UNISON is pleased to be party to the LGPS 2014 Joint Statement, which affirms that proposals for the LGPS that were agreed by more than 90% of UNISON members will be issued as draft regulations by the end of the year.

“The joint proposals put forward improved governance of the LGPS at local fund and scheme level, and detailed proposals for managing the cost of the scheme in the future.

“While these proposals are still subject to discussion, we hope that an agreement with the government can be reached in the near future.”
