Boris battle bus makes dubious NHS claims, says UNISON

Commenting on the launch of the Vote Leave battle bus today (Wednesday), UNISON general secretary Dave Prentis said:

“No one should be fooled for one minute by the dubious claims branded along the side of the Boris battle bus that the NHS could be a Brexit winner.

“If Boris Johnson really cared about standing up for the NHS and how it is funded, he’d have spoken out against his own government and its economic policies that have placed the NHS in such a perilous financial state over the past six years. But of course he hasn’t.

“That’s why no one should believe these highly suspect claims that there would be more cash for the NHS if the UK were to vote leave next month.

“The reality is the economic uncertainty that would result from a sudden European exit could put the health service’s already precarious finances in even greater jeopardy.’’

Notes to editors:
The head of the UK Statistics Authority, Sir Andrew Dilnot, has written to the Vote Leave campaign saying that it was “disappointing” that it continues to claim that the UK sends £350m to Brussels a week, a figure he regards as “potentially misleading”.
