Belfast honours nurses

Freedom of the city accepted by UNISON delegation – on behalf of the whole health care family

A delegation of UNISON nurses accepted the freedom of the city of Belfast on behalf of all nurses last night.

The union said that the award was not only for nurses, but for all health care workers, who give 100%, day in day out.

Staff including our support services team – porters, domestics, administration, clerical and technical staff celebrated the event.

UNISON nurses’ forum joint chair Eoin Stewart said the honoured was “honoured to accept this award on behalf of nurses in Belfast.

UNISON is proud to represent all members of the nursing team, he added, and thanked the people of Belfast for the award.

The delegation included representatives of the whole nursing family, including community nurses, student nurses, registered nurses and health care assistants.
