Signatures and cake

Activists have been busy all around the regions, on day four of UNISON’s major recruitment drive.

And cakes have been a running theme – going down well at Raven Housing in Redhill, where Ryan Slaughter noted that there were doughnuts and apple turnovers available, and at Doxford Park near Sunderland.

Laura Haley of “Team Calderdale” said that rocky road cheesecake for pudding was the perfect way “to celebrate our amazing day” – amazing, explained Tammy Roberts, because “applications are flooding in.”

Monica Hirst reported “happy recruiting” at “lovely” St Albans Hospital, while teams at Crawley Hospital and the Royal Hospital for NeuroDisability in London were also signing up new members, and a team at the South Bank targeted student nurses.

Local organiser Wendy Hudson got in touch to say that a team of five staff and stewards had been busy at the Southern General in Glasgow – not only had they recruited new members, but also a new steward.

Elsewhere, one new member was delighted to report that they’d “just got a great UNISON LV=Frizzell car insurance deal – saving approx £300!”

So UNISON’s not just there for you at work.

Meanwhile, in the South West there was a recruitment stall in Torbay and activists at Medway Hospital combined recruiting with notifying current members of forthcoming surgeries.

And activists were having a super day at Sandwell Hospital, where they’ve already recruited seven new members.

They’ll be there until 8pm, so there’s time to pop along and say ‘hello’.
