Cruel to make NHS staff wait months for pay rise, says UNISON

Sara Gorton says exhausted staff need morale boost now

Commenting on the start of the NHS pay review process announced today (Friday) which means staff must wait until at least May 2021 for a rise, UNISON head of health Sara Gorton said:

“It’s cruel to make staff wait until next summer to learn what their pay rise will be.

“The Chancellor and Prime Minister must do the right thing and fund decent a wage increase now.

“This would give exhausted staff a morale boost and get services fit for the year ahead.”
