Will our health and safety rep of the year be you?
We all expect our workplaces to be as safe and healthy as possible, but this doesn’t happen by chance.
It happens as a result of the hard work and dedication of our safety reps – unsung heroes in workplaces across the UK.
UNISON is taking the opportunity to shine a spotlight on that work and celebrate the people who make this possible – because we’re proud of the work our safety reps do to keep staff and the public safe.
Chair of the UNISON national health and safety committee Malcolm Harrington said: “Safety Reps are the un-sung heroes of health and safety – we need to make sure they don’t go unnoticed.”
And that is why we are asking for nominations for the UNISON safety rep of the year for 2015.
There are two categories:
- 1 – outstanding health and safety campaign during 2015;
- 2 – outstanding contribution to health and safety.
So if you or someone you know has run a campaign or done some outstanding work this year that has made a significant difference to the health, safety and welfare of members in your workplace, then get those nominations in and tell us about it.
Please go to https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/safetyrep2015 to enter.
Paper copies are also available – please email firstname.lastname@example.org.
There are great awards on offer to the winners in each category, including holidays at Croyde Bay, plus a certificate of excellence for the outstanding regional entry and health and safety goody bags for all entrants.
All shortlisted colleagues, prize winners and regional colleagues will be invited to an awards ceremony at UNISON Centre on 3 February 2016.
The closing date for nominations is 31 December 2015.
