Delegates rally to support Glasgow gardener

UNISON local government members today rallied in support of a sacked Glasgow gardener.

Robert O’Donnell was employed for 12 years at the Scottish Exhibition and Conference Centre in Glasgow, where UNISON’s local government conference is taking place, but was dismissed from his job in May.

He thanked members for their support at the rally, where hundreds shouted for his reinstatement.

The SECC conference centre is 91% owned by Glasgow City Council, but unlike other parts of the council it does not recognise UNISON for the purposes of collective bargaining.
