Ofsted members accept pay offer above 1%

Members working in Ofsted have voted to accept the employer’s pay offer for 2014/15, which for most UNISON members means an increase above 1%, depending on their grade.

The increase is loaded towards the lower pay bands:

  • for administrative officer equivalent grades, the increase is £634, or  3.4%;
  • for executive officer equivalent grades, the increase is £534, or 2.3%;
  • higher executive officer equivalent grades will receive an increase of  £434, or 1.3%.

Following consultation, members of both UNISON and the FDA voted to accept the offer.

UNISON is delighted that Ofsted recognised the benefit of working with the trade unions to maximise the money available for members, despite financial constraints.

The higher percentage rates will ensure that the lowest-paid staff receive a higher percentage increase, which will narrow the pay gap.

The employer also gave  its commitment to work closely with UNISON to undertake a full equal pay audit.

Jon Richards, UNISON’s national secretary for education and children’s services, said: “Staff working in Ofsted operate in challenging times and rightfully deserve a pay award above the 1% that is being offered to those in the public sector.”
