Women form the majority of the UK population, yet power is concentrated in the hands of the minority, according to Sex and Power 2013: Who Runs Britain?, a report from the Counting Women In coalition.
The people who hold the most decision-making power are drawn from a very narrow section of the population, the report writes.
And this is the case not only in terms of gender, but also of class, age, race, disability and sexuality.
