Remember, remember 15 November

On 15 November, elections for police and crime commissioners are being held for the first time in England (except London) and Wales.

These commissioners will set police budgets and decide policing priorities in every community. This is our chance to stop the government’s plans to privatise police services and make huge budget cuts.

Their planned cuts will mean 18,000 fewer police staff, including police community support officers, 999 call takers, forensic experts and other police staff who play a vital role in keeping our communities safe, as well as 16,000 fewer police officers on the beat.

The government then wants to privatise what’s left which we believe will be bad for communities and bad for staff, as private companies look to make a profit from policing.

It seems likely that the PCC elections will see low turnout by voters, so your vote and that of your family and friends could be crucial.

Make a difference by voting for a police and crime commissioner who opposes cuts and privatisation. Vote for public services on 15 November.
