RESOLVE HARDENS AS LOCAL GOVERNMENT STRIKES ENTER SECOND DAY

500,000 members of UNISON today (17 July) began a second day of action, shutting thousands of schools, town halls, libraries, leisure centres, and disrupting rubbish collections and council services across England, Wales and Northern Ireland.

Local government workers including teaching assistants, care workers, librarians, environmental health officers, building inspectors and social workers are staging a 48 hour walk out over a 2.45% below inflation pay offer.
