Using the Private Finance Initiative (PFI) to develop six new
hospital sites, will prove a costly error, warned UNISON, the UK’s
largest union today.
Single rooms will prove popular with some patients but UNISON is
seeking assurances they will be allocated on clinical not financial
grounds. In addition single occupancy has major implications for
the workforce as rooms need more nursing and cleaning staff to
ensure the safety and care of patents.
