UNISON, the UK’s biggest union today said that it was delighted
that the case against UNISON member Paul Stockbridge, the
blood service driver accused of speeding, had been dropped,
calling it a victory for common sense.
Karen Jennings, UNISON Head of Health said:
“It is simply not acceptable that drivers of emergency vehicles are
liable to prosecution in certain parts of the country because their
are no national standards laid down. Provided that drivers of
emergency vehicles are driving safely and not endangering the
lives of other motorists they should not fear prosecution – which
could ultimately cost them their livelihoods”
