UNISON Cymru/Wales extends solidarity to junior doctors

Cymru/Wales regional secretary notes Welsh doctors are not striking because the Welsh government values them

UNISON Cymru/Wales sent a message of solidarity to junior doctors in England today, as they began further strike action in their dispute with the UK government.

Regional secretary Margaret Thomas said: “English junior doctors have our best wishes and support. The UK Conservative health minister is acting in a bullying and clumsy manner in pushing through reforms that do not have patient safety at heart.

“Healthcare workers are one team and we stand with the doctors.”

And Ms Thomas continued: “Across the border in Wales there is no strike and we can’t but help contrast the style of the Labour Welsh health minister who values the efforts of the workforce and a Conservative government that cuts services and picks unnecessary fights.

“UNISON campaigns for the best possible public services we can have.”
