Happy NHS Birthday!

UNISON has become a partner in the /together coalition, which this weekend will unite the country to celebrate the NHS’ birthday and commemorate all those who have died from the coronavirus.

The group unites a wide range of supporters who intend to heal divisions and reconnect society over the course of the next decade, after a bruising few years.

It includes NHS bodies, including the NHS Confederation and NHS England, as well as organisations and employers such as the BBC, the Mirror, Aviva, the Young Vic Theatre and ITV.

Birthday events

Happy NHS birthday week! This Sunday on 5 July the NHS will celebrate its 72nd birthday and we wanted to mark the occasion by thanking you, our branches, for your hard work and dedication.

We know that the jobs you do are never easy and that the past few months have thrown you even more challenges.

But despite this you’ve kept on putting others first, adapted to new ways of working and some of you have even taken on completely different roles.

We’re so proud of the way you’ve come together and have stepped up to support your members.

Colleagues in the East Midlands are holding an online rally, to which you are all invited!  Here’s the link to register for the event:

The health team have produced a 7 minute ‘thank you’ video to be shown at the Rally.

It will be available to stream from YouTube shortly after the event we’ll post a link to it once it’s been shown – so look out for it on social media.

We hope the video demonstrates how proud we are to be the trade union representing you.

Please look out for the link and feel free to share it with members so that they know just how valued they are.

We also hope it gives you a good indication as to the sorts of work we’ve been doing on your behalf to address some of the issues that have arisen as a result of this pandemic.

If you are holding your own NHS Birthday event or even just sharing a message on social media, graphics can be downloaded from our media library:

Finally, we want to take this opportunity to thank you, our branches, for the work that you do every day. We know that you go above and beyond on behalf of our members and for that we can’t thank you enough.
