LOCAL GOVERNMENT UNIONS REJECT 0.5% PAY OFFER

Local government unions, UNISON, GMB and UNITE, representing 1.6 million workers in England Wales and Northern Ireland today (22 April) formally rejected the 0.5% pay offer made by the local government employers. Unless it is formally accepted by June 1, 2009, the employers have threatened to withdraw the offer.

The call comes following a Mental Health Foundation* report that showed levels of anxiety are on the up, with people fearing the world is a more frightening place than it used to.
