UNISON is the main union for support staff working in further education colleges.
Our 25,000 members include learning support staff, librarians, IT specialists, technicians, professional staff, administrative and business support staff, cleaners, canteen staff and estate management staff.

(17/06/2009) The threat of redundancies across the UK Further Education system continues and in light of concerns over future funding could be with us for some time. A number of colleges are pursuing active campaigns against redundancies and we are determined to help them in every way we can. To assist branches and workplaces we are working on a range of supporting advice and guidance.
(16/06/2009)(11/06/2009) The Home Office has introduced a points-based immigration system that is affecting colleges and Higher Education institutions. The system awards points to workers' from outside the European Economic Area (EEA) for skills that reflect experience and age.

(02/06/2009)UNISON in Colleges’; a newsletter for members in further education and sixth form colleges summer edition has been produced. The newsletter gives updated information on the Time to Pay Up campaign, Capital Funding, equality issues, Wales, Scotland and sixth forms.
Branches are urged to order a supply of the newsletter to send to colleges in their authority (stock no. 2518).
We hope to produce ‘UNISON in Colleges’ every term and comments and suggestions for content are welcome.
