Commenting on the tax credits debate in the House of Lords today (Monday), UNISON General Secretary Dave Prentis said:
“Across the country nearly three million low and middle income working families will be watching carefully how the government responds.
“Peers have now given the government a chance to think again, and the Chancellor should grasp that opportunity with both hands.
“Mums and dads – who are already walking a financial tightrope because money is so tight – have been having sleepless nights at the thought of losing as much as £50 a week next April.
“Working families will now hope the government re-thinks its heartless decision to snatch so much away from so many.”
