Solidarity to those acting against blacklisting today

UNISON fully supports today’s national day of action on blacklisting – a hugely important issue, and day, for all trade unionists.

I offer UNISON’s solidarity to the thousands of members of trade unions who are taking part in collective protests around the country against blacklisting, both in the construction industry and elsewhere, which has seen ordinary union members lose their jobs and their livelihoods just for standing up for their colleagues and basic rights – espcially health and safety.

And I congratulate those unions – especially UNITE, the GMB and UCATT – who have been tireless in exposing and fighting blacklisting and working for proper compensation for those who have been hit by it.

I am proud to add UNISON’s voice to the TUC call for a full public inquiry into the practice.
