UNISON reacts to Labour’s zero hour contracts pledge

UNISON General Secretary Dave Prentis said: “Zero-hours contracts might suit a few people, but for the overwhelming majority of workers they mean uncertainty and an inability to plan – not just their childcare but household finances too.

“The many people employed in these low-paid and insecure roles, especially in social care where the use of these contracts is widespread, will jump at the chance of guaranteed regular hours. They will welcome Labour’s bold plans to call time on this exploitative, but sadly increasingly common, way of working.”
