Thanks for raising £16,000

UNISON raised more than £16,000 for brain injury charity UKABIF during past president Maureen le Marinel’s term, from July 2013 to July 2014.

And now the charity wants to thank UNISON and our members for your support.

Their thank you message says:

“The members and board of the United Kingdom Acquired Brain Injury Forum (UKABIF) would like to thank the members and branches of UNISON for their overwhelming support as the beneficiary charity of Maureen le Marinel during her presidential year.

“UNISON’s support has enabled UKABIF to develop a Signpost for Head and Brain Injury, and has funded our campaigning work to raise awareness of acquired brain injury.

“We have been able to focus our efforts on ensuring that special education needs educators are aware of the effects of brain injury and that head injuries are better recorded in child health records.

In addition to this, we were able to visit the UNISON conferences throughout the year to meet UNISON members and tell them about our work.

“Our campaigning work continues: our aims are to establish better figures about the extent of brain injury, to ensure that specialist local rehabilitation services are available to all those with acquired brain injuries and to raise awareness of the incidence and effects of aquired brain injury.

“We are delighted that Maureen Le Marinel is to continue to work with us as our first patron and we look forward to benefiting from her expertise and experience.
