UNISON’s Gravesham local government branch is celebrating after Gravesham borough council agreed to pay cleaners the living wage.
UNISON negotiated the agreement with the council that will see the lowest-paid staff receive the living wage. Staff affected will see their new hourly pay rate increase to £7.45 per hour.
UNISON regional organiser Zoe Van Dyke said: “UNISON is pleased that Gravesham borough council has become one of the first local authorities in Kent to commit to the living wage.”
