Public sector finances – UNISON response

Commenting on the news that public sector net borrowing and the UK deficit has increased, UNISON General Secretary, Dave Prentis, said:

“The Tory-led coalition’s austerity agenda is all pain and no gain. Young people are struggling and working families are facing poverty as they lose much-needed benefits.

“The triple dip recession beckons and vital local services such as sure start centres and homes for the elderly are closing down. The poorest in our society are paying the highest price whilst millionaires get tax cuts in Tory Britain.

“We need a new plan to get Britain back to work and to give people back hope for the future.”
