‘We’re keen to demonstrate our strength’

“We’re expecting the majority of our members to be out on the day,” says Eastern regional manager Tracey Lambert, looking the day of action on 30 November.

“Our members are really keen to demonstrate their strength on the day. We think we’ll get a really big turnout.”

Major marches and rallies have been organised in all of the county towns and cities across the region, including Luton, Chelmsford, Southend, Lowestoft, Ipswich, Norwich and Hertford, as well as an evening vigil in Bedford.

In Cambridge, marches will start from Addenbrookes hospital and from County Hall before joining together at the Parker’s Piece area of the city where there will be music, entertainment and speakers – “a fun day for family and supporters as well,” Ms Lambert says.

“We’re putting a lot of work into this” she says.

“The region has organised industrial action briefings in every single branch. We’re attempting to have picket lines at all of our employers.”
