North west members urged to ‘make some noise’

Public service workers across the north west will make sure government ministers hear their voice on 30 November.

The North West TUC has asked protestors to make as much noise as possible at exactly 1.0pm to draw attention to the pensions campaign.

UNISON members will join the 12 official TUC rallies across the north west, including Manchester, Liverpool, Blackpool, Preston and Lancaster.

“The sense of collective action is going to be very good,” UNISON’s north west regional head of health Paul Foley says. “The feeling that all the different public services are speaking with one voice is going down very well.”

In Manchester, marchers through the city centre will walk past the town hall, the main universities and the hospital before finishing at Whitworth Park, where strikers will address the crowds at a rally.

Liverpool city centre will see a massive march and rally too.

“There’ll be a good turnout at each of the rallies. The police are preparing for 10,000 in Manchester,” says Mr Foley. “The message is quite clear – there’s a lot of anger out there.”
