Local Government Staff Lobby LGA Conference

UNISON members working in local government today (2 July) lobbied delegates at the Local Government Association (LGA) conference in Bournemouth. In the latest stage of the dispute over pay, conference delegates were given peanuts and bananas to show how little the 2.45%

pay offer means.

Local government staff across England, Wales and Northern Ireland, including home care and care home workers, teaching assistants, librarians, social workers and environmental health officers will stage a 48 hour walk out on 16 -17 July over their below inflation pay offer. Despite the imminent strike, the three-day LGA Conference did not include pay on the agenda.
