Working together for a radical third term – Trade unions and the Labour government

The Labour-affiliated unions meeting today expressed their commitment to campaigning for a third term for the Labour Government because this is in the best interests of British workers and the wider general public.

Much has been achieved but more is needed if the Government is to reconnect with the public. The unions believe that a third term can be achieved with a clear, unambiguous, radical manifesto which deals with the issues most important to the public. A manifesto that can re-energise Labour activists which includes vote-winning policies on public services, pensions, manufacturing and fairness at work. This will bring greater security for people at work and in retirement.

The unions agreed to work together to help the Government reconnect with Party activists and the public in a way that reasserts its core values and strengthens support. They will work together to influence the manifesto through the Party
