Council for the Registration of Forensic Practitioners

Back to all Motions

Conference
Police Staff Conference 2004
Date
1 March 2004
Decision
Carried as Amended

Conference is appalled at the pressure being put by scientific support managers on our members to become members of this Register.

Conference is further concerned that some UNISON members/branches may not be aware of who the Executive Body is and what qualifications they hold to assess, investigate and sanction our members.

Conference notes with disappointment that UNISON failed to turn out its vote in the 2004 CRFP Board elections and therefore lost a valuable opportunity for UNISON to get a seat on the CRFP Board.

Conference believes that this should remain a wholly voluntary membership organisation.

Conference instructs the Service Group Executive to:

1)obtain comprehensive legal advice;

2)issue advice to branches on what impact the Independent Police Complaints Commission will have on Council for the Registration of Forensic Practitionersprocedures;

3)Examine the implications of the Integrated Competency Framework/Professional Registers for the future operation of the CRFP.
