Calling all probation members for a protest

UNISON is organising a protest on 19 September for members to show their opposition to the government’s plan to sell of 70% of the probation service to the private sector.

Thursday is when justice secretary Chris Grayling is planning to put an advert for the sell-off into the Official Journal of the European Union, which is the first step that must be taken in any major privatisation.

The protest will take place at lunchtime, and more details will be available shortly before the protest.

Together with our sister unions, Napo and the GMB, we are calling on members to take part in the protest.

Advice and guidance is being sent to probation branches and activists.
