UNISON comes top in YouGov poll

Labour members have a more favourable view of UNISON that any other organisation

With the Labour leadership contest under way, research has been released that shows UNISON is the most influential voice among Labour Party members.

YouGov asked just over 1,000  party members to say whether they had a favourable or unfavourable view of various affiliated and other organisations.

The top two positions in the poll were taken by trade unions, with UNISON seen favourably by 75% of party members and Unite by 65%.

UNISON has nominated Keir Starmer in the election to be the next leader of the Labour Party and Angela Rayner as deputy leader.

The Campaigning fund

The Campaign Fund (GPF) is not affiliated to any political party. The money you pay into the fund is used to support local campaigns, to give a boost to the union’s national political campaigns and pay for political advertising.

Much of the high profile political campaign work you see from UNISON is paid for by the Campaign Fund.

But it’s not just the big things. All sorts of national and local projects and campaigns benefit from receiving funding this way, such as anti-cuts campaigns, local campaigns against hospital closures, local equalities events and the union’s work combating racism and intolerance.
