Save the services in Daisy Hill Hospital

UNISON is calling for the people of Newry and the surrounding areas to come out and support their local hospital, Daisy Hill, at a rally on Saturday 28 March.

UNISON regional organiser Nuala Conlon said:

“This rally is an opportunity for the people in Newry and beyond to show their opposition to the ongoing reductions in services at Daisy Hill. People in the area have problems in accessing services in both Craigavon and the Belfast hospitals due to the rural locations, transport difficulties and the distance involved. Further centralisation of our health care system will put the people of Newry and Mourne at risk.

“Thousands of UNISON members took strike action three weeks ago to protest against the cuts in our public services. These cuts to Daisy Hill and beyond are putting people at risk and will cost massive job losses. UNISON and the other unions are meeting next week to consider the way forward which will include further action.”
