Conference
2012 Police & Justice Conference
Date
13 June 2012
Decision
Carried

This Conference notes the organising efforts of branches to increase membership and density, despite challenging climate of reducing staff numbers across all Police Forces, Probation Trusts and CAFCASS. Conference notes the aging demographic profile of UNISON membership makes it essential to recruit more young workers.

i)Conference calls on the Police & Justice Service Group Executive to consult with regional Police & Justice service group executives and the National Young Members Forum on drawing up a recruitment and organising plan with the explicit aim of increasing the number of young workers in the service group recruited into UNISON, and developing young members as activists;

ii)publish the plan showing strategy, targets, timescales, and resources at Police & Justice Service Group conference 2013, with any appropriate interim report on progress in implementation;

iii)bring a report to Police & Justice service group conference 2014, reviewing progress in implementing the plan, along with any proposals for revising the plan.
