Trades Union Congress

Conference
2010 Retired Members' Conference
Date
15 June 2010
Decision
Carried as Amended

The Trades Union Congress (TUC) has 58 affiliated trade unions with over 7 million members and states its aims as campaigning for a fair deal at work and social justice.

However, Conference believes that retired members of the affiliated trade unions are not as involved in the TUC’s campaign for social justice as they could be. The level of support provided to and involvement by retired members varies greatly within the eight regions of the TUC.

Conference therefore requests that the National Retired Members’ Committee ask the UNISON representatives on the TUC General Council to discuss with the other affiliated members of the TUC how to improve the representation and involvement of retired trade unionists in the TUC at regional and national level.
