Conference notes that retired members are included among the total number of UNISON members for affiliation to the Trades Union Congress.
Conference further notes that the present method of representation to the Annual Conference of the TUC does not include any retired members.
Conference further believes that the present method of representation of retired trades unionists within the TUC is unsatisfactory and unfair when compared to other groups.
Conference instructs the National Retired Members’ Committee to:
i. seek to get retired member representation within the UNISON delegation to the Annual Conference of the TUC.
ii. request the National Executive Council to consider the submission of a motion to the Annual Conference of the TUC to obtain a similar structure of representation for retired trades unionists as exists for other groups.
iii. seek to persuade UNISON to support a motion from any other affiliate that seeks to obtain ii. above.
