Conference regrets that, despite his poor health, Mansour Osanloo, leader of the Iranian bus workers union, remains in prison in Iran for his trade union activities.
Conference notes that UNISON has actively supported the campaign by the International Transport Workers Federation (ITF) and Amnesty International to free Mansour Osanloo and other trade unionists detained by the Iranian Government.
Conference calls on the Executive to:
i)Continue its support for the ITF and Amnesty International campaigns against the continued detention of Mansour Osanloo and his inhumane treatment in prison;
ii)Encourage transport branches to raise the case of Mansour Osanloo with local MPs and send letters of protest to the Iranian Ambassador to the United Kingdom;
iii)Campaign with the NEC and Labour Link for the release of Mansour Osanloo.
