Following the introduction of the Green Paper on Care/Attendance Allowance, Conference calls upon the National Retired Members’ Committee and the National Executive Council to oppose the proposed changes to the way that Attendance Allowance will be paid if the bill is passed. Currently the allowance is a national agreement but the proposals are that the money for the allowance will be distributed through the Local Government Social Care budget.
This means that personal choice will be restricted and further responsibility will be placed on already vulnerable people.
