Conference
2008 National LGBT Conference
Date
14 July 2008
Decision
Carried

This conference welcomes the recent formation of a lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) Self-Organised Group (SOG) in the Highland Branch. This is an area of Scotland where there are few facilities for LGBT people. The land mass of the Highland branch is the same size as Belgium, with many small rural communities, where LGBT members may feel isolated.

The inaugural meeting of the LGBT SOG agreed to support self-identified members by:

1Having a dedicated mobile phone for members to call;

2Submitting articles to the branch newsletter;

3Putting articles on the branch website;

4Arrange a safe space social;

5Sending delegates to conferences/training and events;

6Electing a Chair, Vice-Chair and Secretary.

The branch has agreed to financially support the SOG to the sum of £3,000 for this financial year. We wish conference to:

A.Note the good news of the formation of the LGBT SOG in the Highland branch;

B.Encourage other Branches to form a LGBT SOG;

C.Share good practice of other SOGs with branches.
