Conference deplores current anti trade union legislation there. In addition Black members in Scottish branches express deep concern at the UK/UK Occupying forces and Iraqi government’s reluctance to repeal the Baathist inspired laws prohibiting trade union activity in the country.

Conference therefore urges the National Black Members’ Committee to call for the National Executive Council, International Committee to lobby Trade Union Congress affiliated trade unions to press the British Government to influence the Iraqi government to:

1.Repeal all anti trade union legislation;

2.Revoke decree 8750 allowing seizure of trade union funds;

3.Promote twinning links with Iraqi trade unions;

4.Cease violation of ILO Conventions.
