Conference welcomes the recent revision of UNISON’s bargaining fact sheets on sexual orientation and gender identity, and recognises the value of the organising tools available from the Out in UNISON website, which includes the LGBT campaign guide, and the model statement on sexual orientation and gender identity.
Conference recognises that these resources only have any value if they are used by activists and are kept up to date as tools to help us in the fight for LGBT equality in the workplace.
Conference therefore instructs the National LGBT Committee to:
1.Continue to promote the fact sheets and model policy to those working in regions and branches and highlight their value to activists pursuing equality for LGBT workers;
2.Continue to periodically update and re-issue these and other fact sheets to reflect current developments and issues;
3.Continue to highlight the LGBT Campaign Guide as a way of promoting LGBT activism at branch, regional and national level.
4.Continue to produce posters and adverts including those that can be used by branches and regions in connection with LGBT History Month and Prides, or Mardi Gras.
