- 2006 National LGBT Conference

- 24 July 2006
- Decision
- Carried
Conference notes that Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender (LGBT) recognition within family friendly policies is sketchy despite the Sexual Orientation Regulations 2003.
Anecdotal evidence strongly suggests that line managers knowledge and interpretation of these policies is often lacking and open to misinterpretation.
Conference instructs the National LGBT Committee to:
1.Work in conjunction with the service groups to promote better understanding of these policies and issues that arise from them;
2.Work with regional LGBT Groups and other appropriate bodes to reissue its negotiating guide to branches and strongly advise branches to negotiate with employers its development and implementation, and recommend a review a training programme for line managers, making sure future interpretation of these policies is done in an open and consistent way.
