Conference welcomes the steps forward in LGBT equality with the Government’s upcoming anti-discrimination legislation on grounds of sexual orientation in the provision of goods, facilities and services.
Conference also welcomes the responses from national & regional groups, as well as individuals, to the consultation document.
It is with regret though that the consultation document was restricted to equality on grounds of sexual orientation and there was no mention of equality on grounds of gender identity, therefore completely ignoring the needs of our Transgender members.
Conference calls on the National LGBT Committee to work within its own sub-committee structure, and also with the Labour Link group, to campaign for the inclusion of equality on grounds of gender identity with the new goods, facilities and services legislation.
