In 2003, National Women’s Conference resolved not to allow UNISON to forget its policy on proportionality. We called for National Women’s Committee to:
1)collate and publish statistics annually which monitor progress towards achieving proportionality throughout UNISON, and to present these annually to Women’s Conference; and
2)ask the National Executive Council to present these findings annually to National Delegate Conference.
Conference now resolves to hold an annual debate on proportionality, to identify what progress is being made towards achieving a fair representation of women in all areas of our union, and barriers still operating against this.
Conference calls upon the National Women’s Committee to:
a)publish each year the statistics called for as an addendum to its Annual Report;
b)submit a motion under Standing Order 17.2 regarding those statistics to Women’s Conference 2006 and subsequent years.
