Lone Working

Conference
2005 National Women's Conference
Date
20 October 2004
Decision
Carried

Increasingly we read about public service workers being attacked, not only within the workplace but travelling to and from work. Women members who work within the community are particularly vulnerable when accessing the community, answering on-call and going to and from work at unsociable hours.

Conference calls upon the National Women’s Committee to:

1)promote lone working policies that improve women’s safety, not only in the workplace but while travelling to, from and in the course of their work;

2)organise a campaign to make employers aware of the dangers, and their responsibility and accountability for the safety of women employees going about their official duties.
