- 2005 Retired Members' Conference
- Date
- 10 October 2005
- Decision
- Carried
Conference considers that the present cost of utilities – electricity, gas and water charges, are disproportionate for pensioners whose income is limited. Conference believes that the best way to alleviate the effect of these charges upon pensioners is to fully restore the value of the state pension and the restoration of the earnings link to future pensions increases.
Conference agrees that urgent action is needed to restore the link. Therefore, Conference instructs the National Retired Members’ Committee to vigorously campaign, together with the TUC, for the restoration of the value of the state pension and the earnings lik to pensions increases – the campaign to ensure that the TUC and affiliated unions publicise what working members should be doing now to help achieve an improved state pension and encourage action accordingly.
