Conference is concerned to learn that Private Finance Initiative employers are not included in Agenda for Change.
It is well known that in many trusts a high proportion of Black and Ethnic Minority workers are employed in the PFI sector. Research has also highlighted that Black and Ethnic Minority workers are amongst the highest number of low paid staff.
Agenda for Change provided the opportunity for all low paid workers to receive the National Minimum Wage. The fact that this is missing from PFI employers will significantly disadvantage Black and Minority Ethnic employees.
We call upon Service Group Executive to liase and work with the National Black Members’ Committee to campaign for PFI employers to become part of Agenda for Change.
