SEXUAL ORIENTATION REGULATIONS PUBLICITY – STONEWALL

Back to all Motions

Conference
2004 National Lesbian & Gay Conference
Date
30 July 2004
Decision

Conference expresses it’s concern that the publicity material produced by Stonewall “Discrimination at work, It’s so over” funded by the DTI makes little reference to the role in which the trade union movement can play in enforcing the Sexual Orientation Regulations.

Conference instructs the NLGC to work with Stonewall and the TUC (including the WTUC), STUC and ITUC to ensure that future publications aim to inform the LGBT community of the key role trade unions have in protecting employees facing harassment and victimisation as a result of their actual or perceived sexual orientation or gender identity. Conference instructs the NLGC to write to Stonewall to express our concern at this missed opportunity to collectively work together to fight discrimination in the workplace.
